    Hello Members,

It is with great pleasure that we send out our 1st newsletter of 2016!  There has been a tremendous outpouring of support since we announced the resurrection of the Irish American Bar Association and we look forward to channeling that support into some truly great and rewarding experiences over the year ahead.

    2015 In Review

The Irish American Bar Association was officially launched during the closing months on 2015.  We have a new website, a new board, and and are now accepting memberships.  Information on becoming a member can be obtained on our website, or by clicking here.

For those of you who were able to attend our impromptu Christmas gathering at Harrington's, we have some great pictures of the event.  Click here to view the gallery.

    The Year Ahead

The IABA board is busy planning a number of events for 2016.  We will be hosting a signature member wide event for both the first and second half of each upcoming year.  These events will provide members with an exclusive opportunity to meet with Irish dignitaries, luminaries and other persons of note.  Stay tuned for 2016's schedule!

Additionally, the Board looks forward to getting together with members at our monthly happy hours, held at Harrington's Bar and Grill the final Wednesday of each month.  Happy hours are open to members and the public alike.

We will also hold special events from time to time that we believe would be of interest to our members, including partnering with the Los Angeles Irish American Bar Association and local Bar Associations when possible.  One event we hope to re-establish is the ever popular softball game between the Italian American Bar Association and the Irish American Bar Association.  We also hope to start a softball tournament with other local bar associations and will try to coordinate events with the San Francisco Giants’ Irish American nights and lawyers’ nights.

We understand that obtaining the requisite MCLE's are a concern of many of our members.  The IABA will be working with the California State Bar to offer activities that will be approved for MCLE credit.

We are also actively working to establish Mentorship Programs and looking into other opportunities to assist our members who are recently admitted to the California Bar.

The IABA is designed to be an organization whose primary concern is its members.  As such, the board is constantly thinking of new ideas for member opportunities.  We welcome any ideas from members, let us hear what you'd like to see!

I look forward to meeting many of you in the months ahead!

    Nick Ginger
    IABA Northern California President
